The Scripture

We uphold Scripture as the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and practice as well as emphasize the proclamation of the Gospel, the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evangelism and outreach/missions. This emphasis mirrors the "evangelical" tradition within Christianity.

The Sacred

We embrace the sacred heritage of the historic faith and sacramental life of the Church God has set the Church apart as holy. Sometimes termed the "catholic" (small "c") tradition. this sacred heritage reflects the teachings of the church throughout the centuries. Our liturgy expresses these truths as well as celebrates the Sacraments

of Baptism and Holy Eucharist (the Lord's Supper) as commanded by Jesus.

The Spirit

We celebrate the power of God's Spirit at work in the Church and the world, a focus often associated with the "charismatic" tradition. We believe God's Spirit was poured out at Pentecost and continues to move, demonstrating His presence through powerful acts and encounters that transform the lives of believers. We believe the Spirit of God guides, instructs and empowers believers for works of service today.

Biblical ...centered on a commitment to the Bible as the Word of God, the truth by which we order our lives. This faith is summed up in the historic statements of belief such as the Nicene Creed and the 39 Articles of Religion.

 

Unified ...connected with Christians in all times and places that believe in salvation through Christ alone. In this way, Anglicanism is part of "the one holy catholic and apostolic church" as expressed in the Nicene Creed.

 

Historic ...rooted in the earliest Christian Church and upholding the faith, teaching and practices of Jesus' apostles and the "priesthood of all believers" (I Peter 2:9, NIV)
